Healthcare Sanctions scan a variety of data sources to determine if an individual/entity is barred from participating in any federally-funded healthcare programs. GoodHire offers 4 levels of Healthcare Sanctions:

Search
Description
Notes
OIG Sanctions Search Searches the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) of the US Department of Health and Human Resources’ list of Excluded Individuals/Entities. In some cases, the OIG Sanctions Search will not show the violation or reason for the sanction.
Level 1 Search searches all sources in the OIG search, plus a variety of other federal data sources, including GSA, DEA, FDA, PHS, ORI, TRICARE and OFAC-SDN. Equivalent to the FACIS Level 1 Search and meets the federal government’s minimum requirements as outlined in the OIG’s Compliance Program Guidance.
Level 2 Search Includes the same sources as Level 1, but adds a search of State Medicaid Exclusion lists. Equivalent to the FACIS Level 2 Search. Please note that the State Medicaid Exclusion List does not include the following states: CO, DE, IN, NH, NM, OK, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, VA.
Level 3 Search Includes all Level 2 sources, plus state Board Disciplinary Actions Sources and state Abuse Registries. Equivalent to the FACIS Level 3 Search.

Results returned will include the lists that the candidate has voluntarily put themselves on and the name of the source or board that took the disciplinary action. They will also show the status of the sanction (either active or ended). Ended sanctions will also display the date ended. Results go back 7 years from the end of the sanction, or from present day if the sanction is active.

Ordering

Healthcare Sanctions can be ordered as add-ons to any GoodHire background check package.

Reviewing Results

If no healthcare records are found, the check will simply return clear. A list of all the databases searched will be provided.

Alerts:

If the candidate has any healthcare sanctions results, each sanction will be individually listed in the results section of the background report. Each result indicates which source the sanction was pulled from, the provider type and specialty, and the action code and type.

Turnaround Time

Turnaround time for Healthcare Sanctions is between 1 to 3 business days.
