Company Credentialing

During the setup process, new customers must undergo a company credentialing process. GoodHire uses this process to verify that your organization is a legitimate business entity.

Because GoodHire is an FCRA-compliant screening service, we need to make sure that all our customers are using our services strictly for purposes permitted by the FCRA. By verifying that your organization is a legitimate business, we can make sure all background checks on any individual abide by federal and state laws.

As part of the account setup process, GoodHire will ask for information about your organization that we will then use to verify your business. This information includes:

• Organization name, phone number, and address
• Employer Identification Number (EIN)
• State of Incorporation: The state in which your company is registered for tax purposes
• Doing Business As (DBA): The trade name or name under which your business or operation is conducted and presented to the world (if applicable)

Companies located in the following states will also be required to submit a business license as a part of the company credentialing process:

• Delaware
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• Rhode Island
• Washington DC
• West Virginia

GoodHire also requires a W9 form to better determine the legitimacy of the business. In addition, a business license is required if your business is a sole proprietorship.

How long does the credentialing process take?

Company verification can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days depending on the accuracy and breadth of the information you provide. If your business is registered with your state’s Secretary of State office, then verification should take only a few minutes. Otherwise, our Member Services team will request a combination of your Doing Business As (DBA) certificate, business license, and Employer Identification Number (EIN) to complete the verification process.

If a business cannot be verified, GoodHire will grant full refunds for any purchased background checks.
